UModel now supports textures, models and BONES.
It's all janky and sometimes doesn't work, but I've had this tool for a looooong time...
The fact UModel is getting there and I have THREE tools (from here) that haven't received promised updates is extremely disappointing in my opinion.
Sorry to be so negative but it bugs me to no end and I thought I'd just speak my mind.
Of course, this is for Gears 5, I don't know about other games because I didn't buy it for them...
Oh, don't get us wrong. Just because we support the progress doesn't mean that we give our all to compete with them. Like we said we're trying our best to improve the tools. And not just for Gears but since it piques the most interest in all these games, mostly on Gears.
We know that the weights are WIP for months now and we don't give an ETA and just say "soon", and that's because we think that's more appropriate since we don't want to raise expectations in case something comes up along the way. The things that we gave an ETA but still didn't bring; they're on us and we're sorry about that.
And for the 'three tools for convenience thing; again, you need to remember that our tools aren't dedicated to Gears. Some games are easier to extract and manage with this system, some are not. And some people might want to look into the file structures for research purposes. Sure, we can do an automatic "one-click" conversion system like in the UModel. Even if it would be an optional thing and exceptional amongst the other games, we can; but right now it won't be our priority.
And also again, thank you for your patience :)
Oh of course they can succeed, but I'd argue that if you have charged for the tool, there needs to be a level of polish and a level of speed and hunger to do it first. Money should be used to develop a product further and faster instead of a, "well we did it first" fee, so to speak.
But to comment on their community, yes, they're large. It comes with being free and supporting basically every game. But the updated version was made by one of the mods, not a community of people.
Not to be rude, but it's been a WIP for mooooooooonths and you've said multiple times and to multiple people that it's either coming in a couple of days, next week or "soon" :)
"The whole "Three tools just for one thing" thing is something we did intentionally. Not merging them into one tool is for convenience, future research, and liberty purposes."
For whom?
I don't think I've met anyone that enjoys to load up and put a key into two tools and then extract textures with one tool to then convert them with multiple .exe files to see which one works when, with UModel, one can click a model, view it, extract it, or even view textures and then convert them there and then. Even preview them if they wish to :/
Either way, I look forward to the update :)
Hi, first of all, thank you for your kind opinion. Yes, we are aware of the status of the UModel currently. They can of course succeed and get past us in terms of fully reversing Gears, considering they're a big community and they work hard on that and we support every positive progress towards that purpose.
Weights are still WIP on our side since we don't only work on UnArch Geomorph and Texmorph and even when we work on them, we don't only work on Gears like you said we have other research/reversing, tool improvements to do even though we prioritize Gears more than the other games.
For the things that we promised other than bones, we can say that nearly everything you want will be available with the upcoming update which keeps getting longer because of the things that constantly keep adding(again, not just for Gears).
The whole "Three tools just for one thing" thing is something we did intentionally. Not merging them into one tool is for convenience, future research, and liberty purposes.
We hope this temporarily satisfies you until the things you desire arrives at the tools. Thank you for your patience.
